Life at 7 Months

My baby turned seven months a week ago. And just as I say every time, I can't believe how much time has passed. So what's new with her? Well, she's still clingy as ever. She continues to cry if I leave the room or don't pick her up. The pro to that is I'm really building my arm strength, mostly the left arm though, but still. It really is difficult dealing with such a needy baby.

She's much better at sitting up on her own and she's really good at rolling herself around on tile in her walker. In fact, while in her walker, she's beginning to explore by trying to open cabinets and reaching for items in the trash can.

She's very aware of her surroundings. If she hears a noise, she turns her head toward it, searching for what caused it. For example, the heater kicks on here and there, which often makes her look around, wondering where the noise is coming from. Another example, she notices when things are missing, like when she's playing with an object, but it is then removed when she looks away; when she looks back and the object is no longer there, she turns her head and eyes everywhere, searching for where it disappeared to. Out of sight, out of mind, no longer applies, I guess.

And just last week we began to see the sprouting of some teeth on her lower gums. They are barely breaking through, but they for sure are well on their way. This milestone makes me just a bit sad. My little one is turning into a real life human being. Of course, she's always been human, but...well, you know what I mean. Anyway, the teeth are coming and this is making me a tad nervous also. I'm still nursing, so I worry that she may test her new choppers on my milk bags soon. Ouch.

Lastly, I learned Lucero is very resilient. She survived rolling off the bed. I said it wouldn't happen to me, but it did. It happened a couple of weeks ago. I was in the same room with her, but I was at the computer online. I would turn to check on her here and there, and I knew she was rolling around, but what I didn't realize was that she was so close to the edge. The next thing I knew, thud! followed by crying. She was more frightened than anything, nothing a booby couldn't help calm. Still, I felt like the worst mom ever.

And here she is at seven months...
