Keeping my word, here's the latest on our dear friend...
Per website update, July 19th, "With Cowboy here and continued support from friends and family in Phoenix , Golightly has made great improvements lately. Just last week Cowboy let us know that Golightly was actually being fed applesauce by one of the speech therapist. And just today Mom decided to give Golightly some watermelon, which she seemed to suck on and even chew! Hopefully this next week we'll have her tasting a wide variety of things!
Per her mother, July 24th, "Golightly is out of the coma, she has awake cycles most of the day she is awake, she has intense physical , occupational and speech therapies daily but her response is little to none and mostly reflexive. We try different things and she responds to the fruits but these are very small amts. we as family see her daily and any minute response translates into magnanimous gains for us. She however is making small gains for instance she now looks at you focused instead of the wide rolling of eyes, which is a reflex to stress. she still has not spoken and does not move purposefully. All in all she has healed well from the internal injury but the brain injury continues to stomp us medically ....please keep praying. Since he has not improved significantly, and insurance has criteria, her medical status is stable, discussions has ensued to discharge her to home soon."
(I had initially e-mailed her mother, asking if Golightly was out of coma, as I was confused to how she was eating fruit, which is why she began her e-mail to me, letting me know 100% for sure, she was out of the coma.)
Per website update, August 8, "Sorry for not updating as regularly to everyone as we have been very VERY busy preparing Golightly for this SUPER special weekend....
Yep...Golightly is now AT HOME!!!!
She has come home from the hospital and is now being taken care of at home. We have set up a room for her and have gotten instructions and help on how to [properly take care of her. Also recently while helping with her physical therapy, Cowboy stated that Golightly was following commands somewhat , which is a great thing!!
We hope and pray that with the support and surroundings of home that Golightly will continue to improve."
So as you can see, our gal is making progress, slow but steady. Keep praying.
