On My Mind

Shoes. I got these to wear for my brother's wedding this Saturday.

And they're annoying the hell out of me. According to all the reviews on the shoe, a ton of people said to purchase a size down as the shoe will slip off your heel. Guess what? The shoe was not available in a size down, so I bought my regular size 8. And for like two weeks I walked around in these shoes with the little elastic that keeps the pair together. I wanted to be sure I liked them enough before committing to them. They seemed fine, though I was taking teeny, tiny steps, which is not how I normally walk, duh. Finally, one day I clipped the little elastic band and took normal steps. Sure enough, the damn shoe was coming off my heel as I stepped. Grrr!!!

Infuriated, I shared my dilemma with other ladies, with everyone suggesting I buy some insole thing to make for a tighter fit. Let me make it clear, the shoes felt like a good fit on my feet, but every time I stepped, they were coming off. So I bought an insole thing, this one to be exact.

The directions were quite simple: Remove adhesive backing. Place product at inside back of shoe as illustrated and press firmly in place.

Um, yeah, so I did that. Let me tell you, this adhesive backing is so ADHESIVE it was sticking to my fingers as I was trying to place it on the inside of my heel, like really sticking to my fingers. Don't get me wrong, the adhesiveness was good. It at least made me sure it was going to stick to my shoe. Anyway, I got it stuck to the insides of my shoes, but once I slipped my foot in the heel, some of the insole got pulled with my foot, thus causing the top of the backing to stick to my foot.

So yes, for the most part the insole thing does work, as my foot is no longer slipping out, but a part of me is wondering if it's no longer slipping out due to me heel sticking to the actual insole backing. Ugh, this is truly annoying me and will be what I'm thinking about the most come the day of the wedding.

That and if someone might bump my bumpit in my hair. (Oh, yes, I bought one, but not from the website, got it at Sally's. And I now know why it's called a bumpit, 'cause you literally "bump it" into stuff, as you forget there is additional height to your head, as I did getting out of the car.)
