Living in a small town I thought I would have more time on my hands. Turns out no. My reasons being:
1. Living so close to family there's always something going on, whether it be somebody's birthday, anniversary, or just a regular get together with the family for supper. It's always something. This is good. I'm not complaining, but it definitely takes my time away from my oh-so-faithful readers.
2. We're at it again with the T-shirts. (Oh my gosh, I have to be so careful not to type T-shits! Such an easy error.) Yes, that's right dear friends, Blythe and I are hustling T-shirts once again, this time for the Pecos Eagles. We weren't planning on selling Ts to showcase Eagle pride, but believe it or not, we actually were getting requests to come up with something. And boy did we! We came up with three T designs and they have been selling fabulously. So needless to say, this has really monopolized my time over the past month. But also not complaining, because the venture has been very fruitful.
3. Having a young child is always time consuming. I love my little Lucero; she's just really testing mommy. Time outs for the most part do work, but there are some days when I'm putting her in timeout for so many offenses. Offenses mostly consist of her getting into places and things she doesn't belong, which is a majority of the home. But I want to believe she's learning with every timeout. I'm definitely the disciplinarian and I hate playing the bad cop, but what I hate more is the idea of having a reckless, wild child that nobody else can stand to be around. (C'mon, I'm sure you can think of a few.)
Before I wrap up, I wanted to share some updates on the Golightly front.
August 31 - per website -Golightly has been home for a couple of weeks now and is enjoying it. She has been progressively eating more and more food, ranging from applesauce to ground meats! She can also drink regularly from bottles of water and has even used a straw at times. Her weekends are filled with joy and laughter as family and friends gather on Sundays to spend time with her. There is always plenty of room at Momma's house and we welcome people to come out and visit. Overall Golightly's progress has been fabulous and anyone could see by looking at that, and the love surrounding her, that she is truly blessed.
September 24 - per e-mail from close friend - For those of you not keeping track, today makes 189 days since Golightly's accident. 6 months have gone by since Golightly was her awesome self. The crazy thing is I still can't wrap my head around all that has happened in this past 6 months.....
I talked to her mom last night and Golightly is doing really really well. She is making some incredible progress and doing things they never thought possible. In some really exciting news, SHE SPEAKS. Its mostly gibberish now, and its very hard to understand, but she does know certain words. When I called last night and her mother told her I was on the phone, she tried to grab at the phone and had a huge smile on her face.... Her mom claims she def knew it was me and she started gabbing up a storm!!! It was the most incredible thing to hear her voice. It literally brought me to tears, even though I couldn't understand what she was saying, it was so her voice.....
This is some of the best progress she has made. The doctors still don't know what it means, it may not mean anything, it may mean the world..... but she is def aware of her surroundings, and she def knows people by their voices and names. The doctors have told us from the beginning that we may not know what she can really do for years... so this just might be the tip of whats to come!!
September 24 - per website - Great news everyone, Golightly has finally let everyone hear her voice again! She has started talking and saying peoples names by herself. She calls out regularly for Mom, Cowboy, and her brother. She was even on the phone recently and recognized the voices of her friends. We are all very excited to hear Golightly talk with us, it is yet another hurdle that Golightly has overcome. Her progress is amazing. We will keep everyone posted on her insirational progress, have a blessed day all.
I'm so excited to hear that our dear friend can speak. That is awesome! I'm going to make it a point to call her mom to see if she can put Golightly's ear to the phone, so I can say a special hello. God is awesome and I continue to ask that you keep those prayers coming!
